The full-back is a free agent after being let go by the National League winners at the end of last season.

How did he fare last season?

King played 19 times last season for the Spireites during a campaign that saw them win the National League by 12 points.

In his three years at the Spireites, Jeff King made more than 100 appearances and signed off in style by helping the club return to the EFL.

King’s departure left Chesterfield with just one natural right-back on the books in Ryheem Sheckleford but they have since signed Vontae Daley-Campbell after the former Arsenal youth player impressed on trial.

The 28-year-old began his career at Altrincham and went on to play for Bolton Wanderers, FC United of Manchester and Halifax Town before joining Chesterfield in 2021.

What will the 28-year-old bring to Swindon?

According to a report from the Derbyshire Times, King is with Swindon Town with a view to signing a permanent contract.

If King’s trial is successful he’ll bring a wealth of experience to the back line of the Robins after he was a part of a Chesterfield squad that ran away with the National League last season under Paul Cook but was released by the club after his contract came to an end.

King would be Swindon Town manager Mark Kennedy’s 11th signing of the summer following the likes of Will Wright, Ryan Delaney, Harry Smith and Grant Hall through the door at the County Ground.HIGHLIGHTS | Crawley Town vs Swindon Town

In an ironic twist if he earns himself a contract at Swindon then he could face his former side on Friday night as the League Two season gets underway at the SMH Group Stadium live on Sky Sports.
