Dodgers Reliever Injures Himself in Season DebutLos Angeles Dodgers reliever Brusdar Graterol was removed from Tuesday night’s game and the club announced it was a hamstring strain. Manager Dave Roberts told reporters after the game that the strain was the Grade 3 level, the most severe type. Roberts did mention that Graterol is officially done for the season. This comes a day after returning from the 60-day injured list. Graterol missed the first half of the season with right shoulder inflammation.

Brusdar Graterol Diagnosed With Grade 3 Hamstring Strain

The 25-year-old Venezuelan made his MLB debut with the Minnesota Twins in 2019. He got injured after throwing just eight pitches against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday, August 6th. When he left the game, the Phillies were leading by a score of 1-0. The Phillies went on to win that game 6-2. Aside from spending 2019 with the Twins the rest of his career has been with the Dodgers. His ERA this season has skyrocketed this season (54.00), considering he has barely played this season.

It’s unfortunate luck and news for Graterol, who has a cannon of an arm but has had his issues surrendering runs. This certainly isn’t how he wanted his debut to go for the Dodgers. His strongest season was in 2023, when he was sporting a 1.20 ERA with a 4-2 record. Graterol hasn’t earned the role of closer for the Dodgers due to the fact that while he has the dominance to throw hard his pitches have lacked movement. He’s been able to throw as hard as 103 mph with his sinker and 100 mph with his fastball. Graterol’s injury puts the Dodgers bullpen in a tough spot and is, without question, a major mishap.Dodgers Reliever Injures Himself in Season Debut

This is also tough for Graterol, who loves his role as a reliever for the Dodgers. The injury bug continues lingering on and hasn’t been pretty, as his shoulder injury took six months to heal from. With this setback, it’s uncertain how long he will take to recover. The Dodgers have a number of players injured and also recovering from injuries. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May, Bobby Miller, Walker Buehler remain out.
