Championship promotion hopefuls West Brom Albion are among the club’s that are interested in signing  versatile Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden this summer, according to reports from The Daily Telegraph.

Transfer expert Mike McGrath has revealed that Hayden is surplus to requirements at St James’ Park this season and claims that Eddie Howe has already sanctioned a loan move for the 29-year-old with Queens Park Rangers, Hull City and West Brom all showing interest.

Hayden is an experienced operator in this division and someone who could offer the Baggies further squad depth as they look to build momentum in the league after a promising 3-1 away victory against Queens Park Rangers on the opening day.

The Chelmsford born midfielder is a product of the highly esteemed Arsenal academy, who made his first team breakthrough at 20-years of age during a loan spell with Steve Bruce’s Hull City. Hayden played a total of 18 games that season across a variety of different positions and was a useful squad member in the team that were promoted via the Championship play-offs in 2015/16.

The following season after a permanent move to Newcastle United, he went one better and played an important part in Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle team which lifted the Championship title with an impressive 94 points. Hayden made 33 appearances that season, contributing two goals and formed a strong partnership alongside Jonjo Shelvey in the middle of the park.

He remained a stalwart in the Newcastle’s team after promotion to the top-flight under Benitez and during his reunion with Steve Bruce.  However, following the Saudi-led takeover at St James’ Park and the arrival of Howe as Newcastle manager, Hayden was pushed down the pecking order on Tyneside.
