Leeds United will have surely used talks with Brighton & Hove Albion over the sale of Georginio Rutter to enquire about the availability of some of their squad.
Brighton are one of the highest spending teams in world football this summer and so with a large squad now at manager Fabian Hurzeler’s disposal, some players may become available.
Stuart Dallas put the theory forward that Leeds could be waiting for Premier League clubs to finalise their 25-man squads before really moving in the transfer market, and now is around the time Championship sides may be learning who could be on the market.
Leeds are still on the hunt for four new signings before next Friday’s August 30 deadline and the pressure to end the window well has never been higher on a set of owners.
A new full-back, central midfielder and two attackers are the positions Daniel Farke is keen to strengthen, but the clock is really ticking.
However, there is another member of Brighton’s squad Leeds should make a move for and that is Tariq Lamptey, who would prove an excellent solution to Farke’s full-back search.
According to Sky Sports News, Lamptey could leave Brighton as he has less than 12 months left on his deal, with no talks underway over an extension. Clubs from England, Italy and Germany are all said to have enquired about his situation.
Lamptey has had his injury problems in the last few years but would not be expected to come in and play every single game, with Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo currently first choice.
However, his ability to play on both sides – which he has done for Brighton – would make him the perfect player to come in and provide cover and competition.
