Everton manager Sean Dyche has condemned the supporters who abused players on Saturday night. Footage emerged on Sunday of a number of fans taking aim at the first-team squad at Euston station following the 4-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur.

Neal Maupay and Mason Holgate both appear to be targeted in the video. Maupay reacted on social media, criticising the fans for berating players who are ‘trying their best’

The footage was slammed by both the Everton Fans Forum and the Fan Advisory Board on Monday. After the 3-0 win over Doncaster Rovers in the League Cup on Tuesday, Dyche was asked for his view on what happened.

“I’ve kept an eye on it,” the Everton manager admitted. “Enough fans in this stadium think it’s unacceptable – and elsewhere, too.”

“I don’t need to mention anything other than what the mass of Everton fans have already said, that they feel it was unacceptable,” Dyche continued. “Some of them (those who shouted abuse) crossed the line.”

Frustration has been simmering among the fanbase after a disastrous start to the season for Everton.

Goodison Park was almost empty come full time after the 3-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in Week 1. The Blues were then emphatically beaten by Spurs to leave them rock bottom of the table.
