Everton could be in competition with Liverpool to sign goalkeeper Anthony Patterson from Sunderland, according to HITC.
The online outlet reported on 15 September that the Toffees are looking to sign a new shot-stopper as a backup option to Jordan Pickford.
Patterson is now on the shortlist of players being considered but Merseyside rivals Liverpool are also interested in the Black Cats’ star.
With three clean sheets in five games to start the season, the Reds could sign the Englishman as a replacement for Caoimhin Kelleher, who has been linked with a move away.
The report adds that Patterson has lit up the Championship this season thanks to three clean sheets in five appearances.

There is no doubt that Sean Dyche’s side could do with a new substitute option in between the sticks at Goodison Park.
Right now, Joao Virginia has hold of that role but if Pickford was to miss a game for any reason, there would be a large gulf in quality between the two.
This could see Patterson be a perfect candidate for the role with a view to eventually taking that number one spot from the England international.
The Sunderland keeper has come through the ranks at the Stadium of Light and has played a role as his side have risen from League One to the top end of the Championship.
It has to be said that the 24-year-old probably doesn’t see his immediate future as a number two keeper.
This could scupper a deal for the Toffees in the upcoming window with a move in the future probably more likely in a few years – if Liverpool do not get their first.
