Eddie Howe shocked Newcastle United fans with his starting XI against Wolves.

The Magpies made three changes to the team that beat Tottenham Hotspur, with Harvey Barnes losing his place in the starting XI.

The 26-year-old had started in attack during the win over Spurs, playing on the left of attack with Anthony Gordon operating down the right. Barnes even got himself a goal that day, proving why he should be a starter for Newcastle United.

That is why it came as such a shock to see him dropped to the bench at Molineux. Barnes was replaced by Jacob Murphy, with Gordon getting to play in his preferred position of left wing.

However, a poor first half was followed by a half time triple sub, one of which saw Barnes introduced.

And what an introduction.

Harvey Barnes wins it for Newcastle against Wolves with incredible goal

In the 80th minute, Barnes scored the decisive goal as Newcastle United beat Wolves 2-1.

It was a ‘magnificent’ strike from Barnes, as he rifled an effort from distance into the top corner. Sam Johnstone dove for it, but he had absolutely no chance.

As soon as Barnes decided he was shooting, he was scoring. It was a trademark strike from an outstanding player, and a player who is enjoying an excellent start to the season.
