Newcastle United came from behind and overcame another mid-game lull to come away with an eventual 2-1 win at a ground where they hadn’t won since they were in the Championship.Bruno Guimaraes sends classy message to fans after comeback victory against Wolves on Sunday

It was a rollercoaster game for Newcastle fans. I didn’t keep an eye on social media but going off the text messages I was getting – and indeed sending – emotions were running high throughout and they ran the gamut of the emotional spectrum.

The feelings of despair when we aren’t playing well turn into criticism en-masse with fingers pointing at Eddie Howe’s team selection, the tactics, players’ body language etc. Even the ball boys aren’t safe.

However that all changed instantly when a belter of a shot was unleashed from the right boot of Fabian Schar then taking just enough of a deflection off the head of Craig Dawson to loop the ball up and away from goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and hit the top corner of the onion bag.

Suddenly the team’s tails were up and the fans were back on board. The roar inside Molineux from the away end was deafening and it served to push the lads on to bag a winner just a few minutes later with another worldie from Harvey Barnes who pinged a 20-yard curling effort into the postage stamp – an unstoppable shot.

After the game, Newcastle captain posted the perfect message on X praising the team’s never-say-die attitude.
