Newcastle United are now being linked with yet another transfer raid on Chelsea.
Premier League side Newcastle have signed a couple of players from Chelsea in the last couple of years, with both Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall leaving Stamford Bridge to make the move up to St James’ Park. Their exits weren’t popular with Blues supporters because they’re both talented academy graduates who are now getting regular first-team minutes in Newcastle colours.
Livramento admitted it was difficult leaving Chelsea, but it’s quite telling that the 21-year-old right-back was drafted into England’s senior squad for the first time this month. If 20-year-old left-back Hall continues on his path, we don’t think it’ll be long before he joins his teammate at England as well.
It’s just a reminder that some very talented youngsters have left Chelsea in recent years.
Newcastle interested in Chelsea prospect Josh Acheampong
According to i, Newcastle are now monitoring Chelsea’s Josh Acheampong as a potential transfer target.
It is explained that Acheampong, 18, is highly-rated by the Blues and not someone they want to sell. However, potential buyers believe that profit and sustainability regulations (PSR) make it more likely clubs will cash in on academy graduates.
The report says that Newcastle have set their sights on Chelsea’s teenage defender but that he’s receiving plenty of interest.
It was claimed by The Independent last month that Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain admire Acheampong.
