Manchester United were held away from home by Crystal Palace on Saturday despite an excellent display.
Erik ten Hag will be left scratching his head after Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park in which Manchester United should really have won by a handful of goals.
Alejandro Garnacho could very well have had a brace if it was not for Dean Henderson’s immaculate display in goal denying him, along with the woodwork.
United were left to rue these missed chances as Crystal Palace came back into the game to hold out for a 0-0 draw – two points dropped in the eyes of Ten Hag no doubt.
Now, one United player has been singled out by Peter Schmeichel for costing Ten Hag three points.
Peter Schmeichel criticises Alejandro Garnacho decision making
Despite not picking up the win, United were dominant against the Eagles, and the game should have been over within 45 minutes.
United missed five big chances in the game, with Garnacho being the main culprit, missing two big chances himself – a poor outing after a very impressive week from the Argentine.
Speaking at half-time in the game to Premier League productions, Schmeichel commented on Garnacho, praising his impact on the game but criticising his decision-making when in front of goal.
“It is the Garnacho show. He has been very good, his runs have been good, he has the chances.
“I think he takes the wrong option, he should go near post and it’s a good save in the end. It’s this one run every time. When you have these chances you have to score.”
Upon looking back at the goal, we have to agree with the great Dane who happens to be a United legend.
