As the Magpies continue to go from strength to strength, it is both Gordon and Trippier who are according to recent data leading their charge on the pitch, coming in as two of the best-performing Premier League players of the 2023/24 campaign.According to data via WhoScored, former Spurs defender Trippier boasts an average match rating of 7.61 and is 5th in the table for the whole division. James Maddison, Bukayo Saka, Rodri and Solly March are the only five players in England’s top division who are currently exceeding his output for Eddie Howe’s side.

The 33-year-old has so far been nothing short of a revelation for the Magpies since his arrival from Atletico Madrid. He has grabbed five assists already this season and looks like a shoo-in to be named in Southgate’s side should the Three Lions continue their change towards next summer’s tournament in Germany.Kieran Trippier explains decision to leave Atletico Madrid for Newcastle United - Mirror Online

Furthermore, United team-mate Anthony Gordon also continues to impress too, with his average rating so far this season totaling a steady 7.46, ranking him as the 11th-best player at present in the division. He has two goals and two assists and was especially impressive during Newcastle’s 8-0 win at Bramall Lane back in September.Still a solid member of Lee Carsley’s Under-21 side, the former Everton forward could nudge his way into Southgate’s thinking if his form continues this season. Gordon will have his work cut out should he flourish, with England already boasting a plethora of quality wide players including Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden.
