Terriers manager Neil Warnock is hoping that captain Jonathan Hogg and striker Danny Ward will be available for Wednesday night’s game against Stoke City. Ward had missed Saturday’s win over Rotherham due to an Achilles injury, while Hogg had to leave the game early in the second half due to illness.

Everyone in the stadium was confused as to what had forced Huddersfield Town captain Hogg to leave the game, but Warnock clarified at halftime.

“I told him to take today (Monday) off instead of driving three hours [to training and back] and just see how he feels.” He’s a good pro; I’m sure he’ll inform me [Tuesday] if he can come in, and if he can’t, he won’t be involved. I’ll make a choice when I see what he’s like [on Tuesday], but I have one or two ideas for Wednesday, so we’ll see.

Once Ward and Hogg are both cleared to play, Town’s only two senior injury absentees will be Loick Ayina (Achilles) and Ollie Turton (Anterior cruciate ligament), however right-back Tom Edwards will be ineligible to face Stoke since he is on loan.

“If everyone is healthy, we’re as good as anyone in the league; it’s just that we’ve lost three or four games.” I’m sure the next manager will try to balance the team so that it doesn’t influence it as much, but I’d be content with the roster I have now, anywhere in the league, at any time of year. That is what you must consider as a manager.”
