Key Celtics Player Angry Following Failed Clippers Trade
Earlier past offseason, the Boston Celtics were close to sending Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon to the Los Angeles Clippers, but the deal fell through. According to reports, the Clippers were concerned about Brogdon’s health, but the organization has not commented on the failed transaction. According to The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn, Brogdon is upset with the Celtics over the failed deal and hasn’t had a fruitful conversation with the organization since.
“I’m also concerned about Malcolm because we haven’t heard anything and he’s angry with the team,” Washburn added. “I don’t think communication between the two sides has been fruitful.”
During a late-July podcast appearance, Celtics president Brad Stevens stated, “Malcolm is really important.” That was difficult. He obviously does not deserve it, and I sympathize with him. We’ve obviously talked since then. As a result, there are a lot of false narratives floating around.”
Recognizing how difficult this scenario was for Brogdon, Stevens stated that the two parties had spoken, but did not elaborate. According to Washburn, the discussions appear to have been fruitless. This will be an interesting issue to watch because Brogdon is a vital player who was crucial to Boston’s success on and off the court last season.
