Former Ipswich Town full-back Mark Kennedy has left his role as head coach at League One side Lincoln City after a run of one win in six games

He had been in charge at Sincil Bank since May 2022 and led the Imps to a top-half finish in League One last season, but they are currently 16th this campaign.

His final match in charge was a 1-0 home defeat by Burton Albion last weekend. He leaves his role after overseeing 73 matches in total.

Kennedy finished his playing career at Town, having been signed by Roy Keane in the summer of 2010 and went on to make 37 appearances for the Blues.

He began coaching Town’s U21s following his retirement in 2012, before moving on to Man City’s academy in 2016. He also spent time coaching with Wolves’ U23s side in 2019.

In December 2020, he made a brief return to Town to shadow the club’s then head of coaching and player development Bryan Klug in his role to gain more coaching experience.

The Irishman went on to manage Macclesfield Town, where he spent a difficult seven months in charge, resigning in August 2020 prior to the Silkmen being wound up in the High Court.

He then joined Birmingham City in June 2021, where he became a first-team coach, before he was appointed as head coach at Lincoln on a four-year contract.
