Storm Babet could not dampen Enzo Maresca’s spirits as he emerged from the heavy rain to take his seat in the media centre at Seagrave on Friday morning.
The Leicester City manager was in a pleasant mood as he previewed the club’s trip to Swansea and he was perhaps buoyed by the fitness of all of his returning players. Preparing for the first game back after an international break can be difficult with players occasionally picking up knocks while representing their countries, but Maresca was pleased to report a clean bill of health among those who had travelled.
Being able to spend time coaching his players over the past fortnight had left him pleased too. It felt like a rare treat for Maresca to delve deeper into certain players’ games and work out how to improve aspects of their performances that could make the difference for the team.
Maresca revealed that Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was among those whose game was analysed in detail in the last international break, but this time it was the wingers. Stephy Mavididi, Abdul Fatawu, and Marc Albrighton were given tidbits of how they could be more effective, with Maresca drilling into the smallest details, such as the foot to control the ball with.
