Exeter City football manager Gary Caldwell faces a possible driving ban after being caught speeding on the M5. The 41-year-old was clocked on the M5 in Gloucestershire driving at 79mph.
A hearing will take place at Exeter Magistrates’ Court in November to consider if there are mitigating circumstances for not ordering disqualification. These could include whether a ban would cause exceptional hardship.
An allegation was made that on December 22, 2022 Caldwell, driving southbound between junctions 16-17, travelled at a speed exceeding 70mph.
He was convicted by magistrates at a hearing in Somerset in July. They used the single justice procedure which deals with minor criminal offences without a driver going to court.
Caldwell, of Alderley Edge in Cheshire, is yet to appear in court.
Exeter City FC said in response to an enquiry by DevonLive: “This is a private matter, therefore it is not appropriate for the club to comment.”
