NEWS FLASH: We’re probably lucky we weren’t further adrift than we were

HARRY Lewis is hoping City can deliver a “we’re back” warning to the rest of League Two by beating Wrexham.

But Lewis believes a corner has been turned and is eyeing another statement result to close in on the top seven.

The keeper said: “Wimbledon and Swindon are two teams who have been doing well and scoring a lot of goals. They are in a decent position in the table, probably where we’d like to be in.

“If we can beat Wrexham and then MK Dons on Tuesday, I think everybody else will give us a little bit more respect.

“From inside, the belief is back and the togetherness and spirit.

“These guys aren’t going to be where we were three or four weeks ago. That’s a good thing.”

City go into this afternoon’s eagerly-awaited contest just three points behind the play-offs in 11th – seven places better off than they were when Mark Hughes was sacked two weeks ago.

“We’re probably lucky we weren’t further adrift than we were,” admitted Lewis.

“Nobody’s daft, we all know the game. We weren’t good enough.

“But that time has come and gone and we move on now. It’s just about looking forward.

“With the nature of this league, you’re only ever two or three wins away from being right back in the mix.”
