Exeter City’s star player is optimistic about his new…….

With last season’s FA Cup campaign ending in early disappointment, the Grecians will be keen to have a successful run this year

Exeter City Women turn their attention to the Women’s FA Cup this weekend as Torquay United are the visitors to the Exwick Sports Hub in the 3rd Qualifying Round.

Alan Wyatt has taken over the Manager’s position from Steve Elswood for the Gulls this campaign and United will head to the Hub with a squad of familiar faces to Grecian supporters. Anthea Kaptein, Esme Kilburn-Thompson, Ocean Latto, Dani Wyatt, Emily Eaton, Chloe Kind, Lucy Palmer, Milly Klinkenberg, Lilly Burton and Nat Warman have all appeared in City colours in recent years. The Gulls also have experience in former Plymouth Argyle midfielder Tracey Cross, whilst they have recruited well with the additions of Rachel Griffiths and Emma Hollingsworth.

The season has proved tough for United to date. Injuries to Klinkenberg, Hollingsworth, Jana Richards and Sasha Mole have left big gaps to fill. Defeat on their last visit to the Hub was followed by home losses to Keynsham Town and AFC Bournemouth. A lack of available players led to the cancellation of the League Cup clash between the two sides, before United bounced back with a comfortable win over struggling Selsey to pick up their first win of the season.

With last season’s FA Cup campaign ending in early disappointment, the Grecians will be keen to have a successful run this year. The Grecians have won their last seven games and eight from nine this season, momentum into the New Year will be key and with such a strong squad this is group that can entertain successful cup runs to coincide with a drive for promotion.
