With Viktor Gyokeres’ 21 goals in the Championship last season, Coventry City knew they had a gem on their hands.
Coventry City will profit greatly from the resale clause; the manager claims the fantastic star player is worth €100 million.
Gyokeres is now off to a great start at the Lisbon side, and quoted by O Jogo, manager Ruben Amorim talks about how expensive the player is set to become this seasonJust months after the Coventry City departure, the striker is already being linked to a new transfer, and the coach makes it clear that won’t be cheap.
“He has a clause. This year, as far as I know, someone will only leave with a clause. So if they pay €100m, he’ll have to go. Until then, he’ll be a Sporting player,” said Amorim.
When announcing Gyokeres’ signing, Sporting stated that 15% of a potential profit from a future transfer would go to Coventry City. That would only be changed in case certain objectives are reached, although those are not detailed, and in such a scenario it would go to 10%.
That means in the case of a hypothetical €100m transfer, something between €8m and €12m would go to the Championship side.
So far, Gyokeres has eight goals and two assists in nine appearances for Sporting, and is valued by Transfermarkt at €32m.
