Gadd was ‘very delighted and proud’ of the Hornets’ performance.
The Nest side scored nine tries on their route to a 55-12 triumph, their greatest ever at this level.

The result places the Hornets fifth in the table after two wins in the first three games of the season, after it took them four games to win their first game last season.

And Gadd praised his team’s comeback from a 68-19 defeat against Exeter University the previous Saturday.
“(It was a) great performance, it was great to see all of the things we highlighted and worked on after the Exeter game coming through in a performance,” he remarked.

“The boys really recovered well, and it was great for them to see them out together with a dominant performance.”

“I was extremely pleased and proud of the boys–it was also great to see a direct correlation between how we manage the game in our own half and how we can dominate the scoreboard–we had been talking about it for a long time and this is probably the first time we have seen it.”

Despite the victory, Gadd stated that it was not about making a statement and that they would not get carried away.

“We saw the week before that it only takes a team to be 5% off and you can get punished,” he added.

“This week saw us at the top of our game and Newport perhaps not executing as well as they could in some areas.”

“We won’t get ahead of ourselves because we were on the receiving end of this just seven days ago!”

“We’ll take each week as it comes, and we’ll do our best to prepare for each fixture and opponent.”
