Jermaine Beckford has praised Cristian Romero and Ange Postecoglou for helping turn around Tottenham Hotspur this season.

It’s crazy to think that Spurs have been able to showcase this type of form so quickly given how things were looking a little worrying in the summer when Harry Kane left – Tim Sherwood argued they would win the title with Kane now.

But one of the players behind the club’s strong start is Cristian Romero, who Jermaine Beckford felt was a ‘lost cause’, as he told Premier League Productions (22/10/23 at 9:55 pm).

Last season, the World Cup winner might have enjoyed the greatest moment of his life in Qatar in the colours of Argentina.

But life and his mood were very, very different at Hotspur Way, who declined under Antonio Conte, as well as conceding a stupid amount of goals towards the back end of the season.

Either way, former Premier League striker Jermaine Beckford thinks that the previous ‘hot head’ is now changing.

“Romero, I thought he was a lost cause, genuinely I thought he was,” said Beckford.

“He was too hot-headed, but he seems to have got that control. Everybody knows their roles. But they push forward and defend as a unit.

“That’s something I didn’t think Ange Postecoglou would be able to bring to this side as quickly as possible.”

Tottenham v Fulham

Last season, Spurs fans were probably the only ones preferring the international break over domestic football because things were so woeful for them.Ange: Cristian Romero “good to go” ahead of United match on Saturday - Cartilage Free Captain

Yet, fast forward to the present, and they probably hated the fact that the recent international break halted their momentum.

Well, tonight, in a London derby against Fulham, they have a chance to move back to the top of the table with a win.

And if that happens, their lead at the top will be two points, with a winnable fixture against Crystal Palace coming up, including a certain Mauricio Pochettino visiting his old stomping ground.

Chelsea’s form is still indifferent, and if that’s still the case next month, then Spurs can really make matters worse for their former boss.
