However, in a fresh update from Ipswich Town boss McKenna, to seems an operation will not be needed. Speaking to the East Anglian Daily Times after the midweek win over Bristol City, the manager stated that a specialist’s verdict has said surgery shouldn’t be needed.

As a result, Burns should be in contention to return after the November international break. He said:

“Wes had a good report from the specialist. The specialist is hopeful that he won’t need surgery.

“If that’s the case, it’ll be a different sort of rehabilitation and we’ll have him back around the [November] international break, which would be a pretty good outcome from where we were.

While Burns’ absence is a blow to Ipswich Town, he would’ve faced longer out if he required surgery. For that reason, this latest verdict from the specialist will be encouraging for the Tractor Boys.

Thankfully, McKenna has some solid options to pick from in his absence too. Kayden Jackson started on the right-hand side in the win over Bristol City last night while Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson and Marcus Harness are both options there too.Kieran McKenna issues challenge to Wes Burns | East Anglian Daily Times

The depth McKenna has in his ranks allows him to play strong players even when a key man like Burns is forced to the sidelines. The hope will be that one of the three right-sided options can step up in his absence and give the Welshman a point to prove upon his return to fitness.
