Man City boss Pep Guardiola plays down title race ramifications of Arsenal clash as he insists his side are focused on the Champions League | Goal.com

Guardiola feels Postecoglou is currently leading Tottenham forward, but he also pointed out the club’s lack of other obligations.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes that Tottenham Hotspur will be in the mix at the top of the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur could pose a real threat this season because they don’t have European or Carabao Cup action.

That is the view of Pep Guardiola, who has been speaking to the media ahead of City’s game against Manchester United today.

Tottenham still sit top of the Premier League table after beating Crystal Palace 2-1 on Friday night.

Ange Postecoglou is enjoying a dream start to life at Tottenham and remains unbeaten in league action this season.

Pep Guardiola comments on Tottenham Hotspur

Not many pundits are expecting Tottenham to stay at the top of the table for long; there are probably plenty of Spurs fans waiting for a dip too.Man City boss Pep Guardiola plays down title race ramifications of Arsenal clash as he insists his side are focused on the Champions League | Goal.com

Yet whilst Tottenham are winning games and playing good football, why can’t Spurs fans dream?

Tottenham’s form has caught the attention of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, who has offered praise for Spurs.

Guardiola claims that Tottenham will ‘definitely’ be in contention at the top of the table this season, praising the quality of their squad.

Tottenham have no European action this term and are already out of the Carabao Cup, so Guardiola’s theory is that Spurs will be a threat with fresh players for Premier League action.

“Look at Spurs now, how good they are playing,” said Guardiola. “One game a week, they have to be fresh all of the season, they are out of the Carabao Cup, so Spurs will be there for sure, definitely, with the quality they have, always they had the quality and now with the manager they have right now…” he added.

My view: Tottenham disappointment could lead to great season

We can understand why Tottenham supporters were disappointed with the Carabao Cup exit to Fulham in August.

Postecoglou made a raft of changes and Tottenham crashed out on penalties, immediately passing up a potential push for a trophy.

Spurs have no European action to deal with so fans were gutted to see Tottenham throw away a Carabao Cup run.

Tottenham may well benefit from losing those cup games though, with Postecoglou able to call up on fresh players rather than juggling his players for midweek games.

Spurs may not win the league but they could secure a top four finish – and few were really predicting that at the start of the season, especially after losing Harry Kane.Man City boss Pep Guardiola plays down title race ramifications of Arsenal clash as he insists his side are focused on the Champions League | Goal.com

A great season may well be on the horizon for Tottenham, with Guardiola clearly believing that the lack of games will ultimately help Spurs in the coming months
