JUST: IN NEWCASTLE UNITED READY FOR NEW TEST SAYS HIS MANAGER
Kroos claim
Toni Kroos has fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid this season, with six of his 12 appearances coming as a substitute. The 33-year-old is set to become a free agent this summer, and the Daily Star claim the World Cup winner is attracting interest from the Premier League’s elite.
Eddie Howe will inevitably be looking at potential midfield recruits given Sandro Tonali’s ban, with the summer signing ruled out for 10 months. Kroos will be free to enter negotiations with clubs outside of Spain from January.
Jamaal Lascelles has impressed in his recent run in the starting eleven, having struggled for game-time last term. The Magpies have been linked with a host of central defenders in recent months, including Crystal Palace duo Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi.
Manchester City have also been touted as another potential destination, with Palace set to demand a ‘big fee’ for the defender. Financial Fair Play could limit Newcastle’s spending power if they were looking to firm up any interest, with Chelsea and Manchester United also linked.
