Sean Dyche shares the ‘subtle’ changes he has made to help improve Everton’s results
Sean Dyche has shared Everton’s new training regime following their upturn in results.
As per the Mirror, the Everton boss has revealed that he has made a ‘few changes’ to account for longer matcheEuro 2020 briefing: England face Italy in final
Ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League campaign, it was confirmed that match officials would be obliged to add time on for specific interruptions such as substitutions, set-pieces and goal celebrations.
The new rules lined up with those that took place at the 2022 World Cup, which saw over 10 minutes of extra time added to most games during the tournament.
Stats showed the ball was only in play for around 55 minutes on average during the previous season, so the new rules looked to help combat time-wasting.
The new regulations now mean that players are expected to play significantly longer matches, whilst often playing up to three times in a week.
Sean Dyche has now adopted a new training regime to help his players with this, including longer sessions to prepare the team.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
“At the beginning of the season there were some stories that it could be 13 minutes extra played, and we thought we needed to be ready for that, so we added a bit more physical time on your legs,” Dyche explained.
“They are small margins, but you add all those small margins together and it makes for a bigger margin. We have also changed our pre-game regime and analysis – they are all things we’ve changed from last season to push in the right way.”
Sean Dyche has transformed Everton recently
Sean Dyche has made small changes to Everton’s training sessions, but it is clearly working.
At the start of the season, the Toffees looked lethargic and often seemed to struggle with the intensity of the game. With Everton’s squad lacking depth, it is clearly benefitting their key players to have the stamina to play such long games every week.
It has taken a while, but Dyche’s small changes are making a huge difference and have helped take Everton’s performances to another level.
Keep doing what you’re doing, Sean!
