Leeds United are reportedly among a host of clubs interested in signing Hammarby defender Nathaniel Adjei.

That is according to Fotboll Direkt, who report that Hammarby are set to demand around £3.5 million for the centre-back as they look to take advantage of the vast interest in his services.

As per Sky Sports, Old Firm duo Rangers and Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic have been scouting Adjei this season, while clubs from Belgium and Italy are also said to hold an interest.

It was then reported by the Sun earlier this week that Championship trio Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Preston North End are all keen on signing Adjei in January on a potential loan deal.

Adjei’s season with Hammarby finishes this weekend and with the new campaign not set to get back underway until well until the new year, clubs are looking to pounce on that.

Leeds want to sign Hammarby’s Adjei

It is difficult to see Leeds pursuing a loan deal for someone like Adjei as Daniel Farke already currently has four capable centre-backs at his disposal.

Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk is very much Leeds’ first choice partnership so at the moment, while Liam Cooper has been the preferred option ahead of Charlie Cresswell on the bench.

Given Cresswell’s lack of game time, it would make little sense to bring in another, particularly on loan, unless he or someone else was to depart Elland Road after the turn of the new year.

A far more likely scenario would be for Leeds to meet the £3.5 million asking price and then either send him out on loan themselves, or move one of their current crop on.Hammarby IF v Djurgardens IF - Allsvenskan

Either way, it looks at this stage like a difficult deal to do with so many clubs from across Europe seemingly keen on signing him once the January window opens
