An NFL insider provides an expert assessment of Mike Vrabel’s sacked status with the Tennessee Titans…
Last season, coach Mike Vrabel led the Tennessee Titans to a 7-10 record, which obviously isn’t quite good enough. This year, in Vrabel’s sixth season as head coach, the Titans are just 3-7.
Tennessee’s tough start has led to some wondering how secure his job is in Tennessee. Some fans in New England may even want to see Vrabel return to the Patriots if Bill Belichick’s future with the team is in any doubt
Yet, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini has heard otherwise. She’s held several conversations with ‘high-ranking’ Titans officials who report the franchise “strongly and collectively believes it has the right coach for long-term success.”
Vrabel, knowing the results haven’t been what anyone wants, recently addressed the elephant in the room, insisting he’s not concerned about his job security and has just one goal in mind.
With the Titans trying to find out if Will Levis can be their franchise QB of the future, Vrabel will have a longer leash than some might like. Yet, the success he’s had in Tennessee shouldn’t quickly be forgotten either. While the past two seasons haven’t been ideal, Vrabel’s overall body of work still looks impressive.
While his Titans could certainly use a few more wins, if Vrabel somehow became available, he’d likely have no shortage of suitors among franchises looking for a new leader. Yet, all indications point to Vrabel sticking around in Tennessee for at least one more year, if not a lot longer.
