Darts legend Phil Taylor says he would consider going on I’m A Celebrity after he retires from the sport next year.

The Power, as he is known, has a record 16 world titles but plans to hang up his arrows at the end of next season.

He stepped away from the sport after reaching the world championship final in 2018, but returned last year.

Considered to be the greatest darts player of all time, Taylor said age had caught up with him and he wanted to spend more time with his grandchildren.

Asked about appearing on I’m A Celebrity, he told BBC Radio Stoke’s Lee Blakeman he would find it easy.

“I go walking around Hanley, it can’t be any worse than that,” he joked.

“Spiders I might be a bit dodgy with, I don’t like spiders.”

Taylor – who has spent the past two years on the Senior Darts Tour – said he felt it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Power, who is originally from Stoke-on-Trent, has dominated darts for more than two decades after winning his first world championship in 1990.

He won the event eight times in a row from 1995 to 2002 and reached 14 straight finals.

Throughout his career he has notched up a record 85 major titles, was world number one for 13 years, and has twice been nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year.Phil Taylor
