Peter Wright and Adrian Lewis will be absent from this year’s Players Championship Finals – and probably just as well following their massive bust-up at the tournament two years ago.

The darts icons, both two-time world champions, had to be pulled apart by the referee and security after a fiery end to their second round match, which Snakebite won 6-5. After hitting the winning double, Wright was confronted with a raging Jackpot, who gesticulated angrily at his rival.

Wright wasn’t having any of it though and argued back, with referee Kirk Bevins feeling the need to intervene. That did little to cool emotions, with security eventually getting involved to urge both men off the stage.Peter Wright and Adrian Lewis square up to each other after their match at the 2021 Players Championship Finals
