GABRIEL CLEMENS FINISHES SECOND IN THE PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS, ENDING LUKE WOODHOUSE’S RUN IN SUPERB DISPLAY
Gabriel Clemens is the second semi-finalist at the Players Championship Finals and will take on Michael van Gerwen for a spot in a maiden major ranking final after seeing off Luke Woodhouse 10-7 in Minehead.
Clemens will look to bookend his season at the right time after a superb World Darts Championship last year and he has done so this weekend. He averaged 98.75, hit 4 180’s and 43.5% on the outer ring in a superb display from ‘The German Giant’.
En route to making his second major ranking semi-final, he started superbly. He went 3-2 up with a 134 checkout, before taking out 87 for an 11-darter for a 6-4 lead as he kept Woodhouse at arms length.
Woodhouse squandered a golden chance to get back into it and Clemens made it 8-5 after five missed darts at doubles. Clemens this time though missed doubles with four in all going begging and Woodhouse broke back and made it 8-7.
But Clemens found the surge when he needed it most hammering in a 160 checkout before hitting 85 on the bull for a 12-darter to seal the win. Superb from the German ace.
