Spencer Dinwiddie The Nets’ chances in the In-Season Tournament are going to rely on their ability to rack up points against the Raptors.

“Oh, I don’t know all the particular rules. I know we’ve got to win by a certain amount. But I mean shoot, who don’t like money?” Spencer Dinwiddie asked rhetorically. “Hey, listen, half a million dollars. That’ll pay for my Rolls Royce.”

Tongue-in-cheek jokes aside about the $500,000 prize money for the champions, Dinwiddie is right about the complex tiebreakers involved, ones drawn from the international soccer world that the league is emulating with this tournament.

The Nets can reach the quarterfinals of the tournament either by winning East Group C or as a wild card.

Orlando currently leads at 3-1, while the Nets and Celtics are each 2-1, Boston facing Chicago on Tuesday.

The Bulls and Raptors have already been eliminated.

Either way, the Nets’ road to advancement runs through the Raptors.

No, make that running the score up on the Raptors on Tuesday at Barclays Center.

“Man I really still don’t know what’s going on as far as all the point-differential type thing,” Trendon Watford said. just know we got to win Tuesday, and I know we’ve got to win by a certain amount to go to Vegas. So let’s handle that.”

If the Nets handle the Raptors, they would clinch Group C if either Boston loses or they take the tiebreaker over the Celtics and Magic.

A Brooklyn victory would still clinch the wild card in a couple of other ways, either seeing Cleveland, Miami and the Knicks all lose, or finish second in Group C and take the tiebreaker over any other runner-up with a 3-1 record.

And about those tiebreakers: They’re tricky.

No, not away goals.

But almost as obscure.

The Nets beat Orlando but lost to Boston. Point differential is the next tiebreaker, with the Magic at plus-22 and their pool play complete.

The Nets’ plus-8 is better than the Celtics’ even goal differential.

To guarantee advancement with no need for scoreboard watching, Brooklyn would be best-served by beating Toronto by at least 14.

That would clinch the quarterfinals on Dec. 4 or 5. The semis and final are in Las Vegas on Dec. 7 and 9.

“It’s been an interesting one, considering it’s the first one. But it does add to our fuel, makes us want to get that money, get that check and whatnot,” Lonnie Walker IV said. “Us knowing that, it fuels us.

“But we’re building over here. We’re trying to grow. We’re trying to be the best team that we can be, so day-in and day-out we’re ready to go. But when its In-Season time, we have to understand what we’re trying to do and trying to accomplish. … It picks up the tempo and the energy for sure.”

After years of load management and stars sitting out games, fans have begun to question whether players truly care. The NBA Cup — patterned after international soccer’s midseason competitions like the FA Cup in England — has given them a chance to prove they do.

“Yeah, I think it’s fun. Everybody’s playing hard. Everybody’s competing. It’s a new wrinkle for fans that are excited. They say it’s like another $1 billion in revenue for the league,” Dinwiddie said. “The league is going to do what’s best for the league at all times, and that’s why we’re one of the most innovative leagues in the world. So credit to Adam Silver and whoever else is in that brain trust. Spencer Dinwiddie

“If it’s good for the league, I’m all for it. At the end of the day, you want to leave the league in a better place than you found it, so if this is something that the fans really buy into, then it’s our duty to give that full effort.”
