Could J.J. Watt make a return to the NFL and the Houston Texans? Former Texans legend Andre Johnson has a ‘crazy’ theory

Former Houston Texan J.J. Watt has given no official indication that he plans to return to pro football, but when a legend hangs up his cleats, there is always speculation from fans as to whether or not the career is really finished.

Watt did, however, post to social media last week that he was in Houston and working out at the Texans facility, so that prompted a question to former Texans wideout and fellow Ring of Honor member Andre Johnson about Watt’s potential future in the sport.

In short, Johnson believes that Watt could still have some snaps in him.

“I honestly feel he retired a little early,” Johnson told KHOU. “That’s just my personal opinion. I think he still has some football in him.”

Watt was drafted by the Texans after a collegiate career with the Wisconsin Badgers, and he spent 10 seasons in Houston before finishing his career with two years with the Arizona Cardinals. He’s still a fan favorite in Houston, and Johnson thinks the fans would react positively if Watt decided to make a return, even if it is a long shot.

“That would be crazy,” Johnson said. “I think definitely the fans would love it.”JJ Watt Flaunts Muscles and 'Dad Bod' on Social Media

In reality, this is likely just a fun “what if” speculation for fans, but it comes at a time where the Texans franchise is the healthiest it’s been in years. Houston is led by a young core of playmakers, notably rookie quarterback and MVP candidate C.J. Stroud, and although it lost a close game to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, the league has certainly taken notice of the team’s quick turnaround this season.
