‘WOLFIE’S’ WILD RIDE TO THE WORLD TITLE AT LAKESIDE IN 2007 FROM 6-0 TO 6-6
From December 2 to 10, the WDF Lakeside World Championship 2023 is scheduled to take place. In this article, we look back at Martin Adams’ world title at the 2007 edition.
The 2007 Lakeside final is one of the most remarkable finals ever played in Frimley Green. Defending champion Jelle Klaasen was knocked out in the first round by Co Stompé, who in turn lost to Martin Adams. Wolfie then made it to the final after wins over Ted Hankey and Mervyn King
The Englishman took on compatriot Phill Nixon in the World Championship final. The final looked to be a breeze for Adams, who managed to take a 6-0 lead. Wolfie needed only one more set, but the game slowly slipped from his fingers. Nixon came back to 6-6 and managed to force a deciding set. However, the thirteenth and final set still went to Adams, who thus captured his first world title.
