The Leeds United youngster is reportedly attracting interest from the Premier League but has been given transfer advice from Carlton Palmer

Leeds United youngster Archie Gray should ignore any advances from Premier League clubs and stay at Elland Road, according to former Whites midfielder Carlton Palmer. The 17-year-old has made a big impression already this season for Daniel Farke’s side, and that has reportedly alerted top-flight clubs such as Everton and Crystal Palace.

However, Palmer, who played more than 100 games in Leeds United colours in the mid-1990s, believes the youngster is better off staying at the club, where is he likely to get valuable game time to continue his career progression, instead of moving to a side where first-team football is not guaranteed.

But he warned that Leeds’ hand could be forced by a sizeable bid for Gray – although he has backed Farke and Co to guide the Whites back into the Premier League at the first time of asking. Gray has started seven of Leeds’ eight Championship games so far this term, and Palmer feels that experience is vital.”Archie Gray, Leeds United’s starlet midfield player, has featured in all Championship games thus far, this season,” he told Football League World. “He has been very impressive, especially at Millwall, which is an intimidating place to go and play. The 17-year-old is now being monitored by several Premier League clubs. Everton and Crystal Palace are just too keeping an eye on him

“I think Leeds will get promoted this season, I really believe that, I said it at the start of the season. If they do get promotion, and they do get a big money offer on the table, then it may force Leeds’ hand.”It’s always important for a young player to be getting minutes, and he’s getting that and playing at Leeds United at such a tender age. He’s unlikely to move to a Premier League club and play every week, so it’d be best to stay where you are.

“The likelihood is, if he moved to a Premier League club in January, he would be loaned back to a Championship club anyway. So maybe, if Leeds do decide to sell, that might be a deal that they look to do.”

Gray came off the bench late on in the 3-0 win over Watford at Elland Road last Saturday, with Glen Kamara and Ethan Ampadu preferred in the central midfield role, but the youngster is sure to continue to be part of Farke’s plans in the coming months.
