New manager 'must respect Exeter City DNA' says Grecians president Julian Tagg - BBC SportBristol Rovers fans have taken to social media to react to the breaking news that Matt Taylor has been announced as the new first-team manager at the Memorial Stadium. Other supporters took the opportunity to wish former caretaker boss Andy Mangan well, as the 37-year old left the club today.

Taylor left Rothertham United earlier this month with the Millers currently sitting 23rd in the Championship. The 41-year old also steered Exeter City to League One promotion in the 2021/22 season and summer signing Jevani Brown knows Taylor well as he was prolific for him in that very season.

Many names have been linked with the vacancy in recent weeks, including Garry Monk, Karl Robinson and Dean Holden. But the Rovers hierarchy have appointed Taylor as their new man. Five weeks have passed since the sacking of former boss Joey Barton. Since then, the Memorial Stadium outfit have recorded four wins, two draws and just one defeat under Mangan’s watch.New manager 'must respect Exeter City DNA' says Grecians president Julian Tagg - BBC Sport

Rovers currently sit 11th in the League One table, nine points off the play-off positions. Taylor’s first game in charge will be this weekend in the FA Cup second-round, away to League Two outfit Crewe Alexandra, subject to a pitch inspection. The Mem faithful are aware of Taylor’s successes at Exeter.

Gasheads will be hoping that new majority shareholder Hussain Al-Saeed will financially support the former Millers boss in the January transfer window. There is a lot to be excited for the Gas at the moment.New manager 'must respect Exeter City DNA' says Grecians president Julian Tagg - BBC Sport

James Boycie: “Great signing. Exactly the kind of manager that’s been needed for ages now!
