With a very creditable debut, Wesley Plaisier secured a spot in the last sixteen at the WDF World Championship. In his debut on the Lakeside stage, the Dutchman triumphed 3-1 in sets against Reece Colley.

Plaisier had to warm up two sets, although he did manage to win the first set 3-1. After losing the second set 3-0, Plaisier managed to find his good game.

He took a 14-darter lead in the third set and then broke Colley with a 15-darter. Using tops, Plaisier then took the third set 3-0. Plaisier then played his best set in the fourth set. He broke his English opponent with a 12-darter, before Colley broke him back with a 14-darter. However, a 15-darter gave Plaisier another break before he secured the victory with a beautiful 110 finish.
