Gerwyn Price has opened a fish and chip shopDarts star Gerwyn Price has opened a fish and chip shop as he prepares to mount a challenge for his second world championship.

The Iceman won the tournament in 2021, but fell at the quarter-final stage in last year’s championship. Price gets his 2023 campaign underway next Monday night, but also has matters of business on his mind as he continues his preparations.

The Welshman has previously opened a cafe in his home village of Markham. But with the venture struggling amid the current economic headwinds, Price has now decided to launch a fish and chip shop, which his cafe will move into.Gerwyn Price has opened a fish and chip shop

He told the Daily Star: “The cafe’s not doing too good at the minute – business is a little bit up and down, so I’m opening a fish-and-chip shop and the cafe is going to move in with that. With the cost of living crisis, footfall in the village is a bit slower so I’m branching out into fish and chips and turning the cafe into a flat.”‌

Price was thrashed in the quarter-finals of last year’s tournament by Gabriel Clemens. The hostility of the crowd got to the Welshman, who responded by wearing ear defenders in an attempt to block out the noise.Gerwyn Price has opened a fish and chip shop

Ultimately, it did not work, with Clemens hammering him 5-1 to reach the semi-finals, where he was knocked out by eventual champion Michael Smith. But the Iceman has insisted he does not regret putting them on.
