The Philadelphia Phillies and their fans will be ready for them to get back onto the diamond following a disappointing exit in the National League Championship Series last season.

With another ready-made roster, their aspirations will be to bring home the franchise’s first World Series title since 2008.

One of the Phillies’ legends from their last championship winning team is set to be honored this summer, as they dedicated a special night to Cole Hamels’ retirement ceremony on June 21, 2024.

Philadelphia will certainly be excited to have this event take place before they welcome in the Arizona Diamondbacks, who they lost to in the NLCS.

Hamels, a former first round pick of the Phillies back in 2002, became one of the best pitchers in franchise history after finishing with the sixth-most wins (114), sixth-most innings pitched (1,930), third-most strikeouts (1,844) and fourth-most games started (294).

Most importantly, the left-hander was named the MVP of their second-ever World Series championship.

Hamels officially announced his retirement in August of 2023, marking an end to his 15 year career that saw him spend 10 of those with Philadelphia.

The pre-game ceremony for the franchise legend will occur before the scheduled first pitch at 6:40 p.m. EST. Fans aged 15 and older will receive a 2009 National League Champions replica ring according to their promotions page.
