Following a strong start to the season, Tobias Harris’ production has dipped slightly in recent weeks. After hearing many beg for him to be more aggressive, the Philadelphia 76ers forward came alive against the Toronto Raptors.
From the opening tip, Harris made his presence felt in the matchup. He knocked down his first eight shots in a row and never looked back. By the end of the night, he notched a new season-high with 33 points.
Along with his scoring, Harris also notched eight rebounds and a season-high seven assists. It was an all-around efficient night for the Sixers’ forward, as he shot 52.2% from the field and 55.6% from beyond the arc.
After this dominant performance, Tyrese Maxey was asked about Harris. He proceeded to praise his teammate and touched on the value he brings to the team with his selflessness.
“He’s huge. Some nights he comes in and plays his role. Sometimes he doesn’t get as many shots as he probably needs, but he doesn’t ever complain,” Maxey said. “He comes in, guards whoever he needs to guard, he shoots when he needs to shoot. Nights like this when we needed him to step up in the first half, he has like 25, 26 in the first half. he was big.”
One thing Harris does not get enough credit for is always putting the team first. Over the years, he has seen his role change numerous times. Whether it was being the second option to Joel Embiid or being a catch-and-shoot wing, he’s always done what is needed to help the team succeed.
This continued selflessness is what makes him such a valuable member of the Sixers, both on and off the floor.
