Reports are suggesting that the Tigers will complete a deal for the 21-year-old Portuguese winger, who has just been recalled to Anfield from a loan stint at RB Leipzig.

The move will be of interest to Rangers fans given Championship leaders Leicester City were linked with a move for Carvalho in the January window.

The Foxes have also been linked to fellow wide-man Million Manhoef, who is reportedly a main target for the Rangers squad in the January transfer window.

Speaking to Sky Sports with the deal nearing completion, the owner claims “many clubs” wanted to sign the ex-Fulham star.

“We agreed all terms with him,” said Ilicali. “I’m very happy to say he’s going to wear the Hull shirt.

“It’s almost done. The announcement has to be done, that’s all. The club will do it.

“He wants to go to a place where he will enjoy football. Hull is the best place for him to improve his talents.

“We are a fantastic club with fantastic players and a fantastic coach. Everything is so good here.”

According to the Leicester Mercury, Enzo Maresca’s side have been “beaten” to the signature of Carvalho by Hull.
