One of the biggest surprises of the 2023 NFL regular season was the emergence of the Houston Texans, a legitimate force to be reckoned with in the AFC, with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud leading the way.
Stroud was drafted by the team with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and was expected to be a potential franchise quarterback for the Texans, but no one saw him leading the team to the NFL playoffs in his first season with the team
The Texans headed into the season as a rebuilding team with some promising building blocks in Stroud and fellow rookie defensive end Will Anderson Jr., and now the team has a chance to put on a show in the postseason.
Unfortunately for the Texans, Houston has its fair share of injuries to deal with, as there were quite a few prominent names on the team’s injury report ahead of the playoff clash with the Cleveland Browns ahead of Wild Card Weekend, as shared by the team on Twitter.
Coming into this playoff showdown with the Browns, the Texans will be slight underdogs on their home field of NRG Stadium in Houston.
However, with a player like Stroud under center, anything is possible heading into this postseason game, as he can be that much of a game-changer, even against an elite defense led by potential NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.
As long as this Texans team isn’t too banged up, Houston should give the Browns a run for their money as they try to pull off the upset and advance to the next round.
