The White Sox’s general manager claims the transaction with the Baltimore Orioles is done after a lengthy negotiation. The case for the Orioles acquiring Dylan Cease - Camden Chat

The Baltimore Orioles would love to have Dylan Cease.

That’s certain.

He would slot into the top of their rotation and immediately improve the ceiling of what can be accomplished this year.

But, the Chicago White Sox want to ensure they get back enough of a return that helps them navigate their rebuild when trading away the ace of their pitching staff.

This could create a stalemate between the two parties. The case for the Orioles acquiring Dylan Cease - Camden Chat

The Orioles are navigating which of their prospects they consider to be “untouchable” and who they would be comfortable including in this package to get two years of Cease.

Maybe neither party budges on their asking price.

Baltimore will not jeopardize the future to chase a World Series ring, especially because they can’t spend for top free agents like others around the league.

They need their farm system and have done an incredible job of building it.

The White Sox know this and would love to get back some of those elite prospects with the idea they are playing for their Major League team very soon. The case for the Orioles acquiring Dylan Cease - Camden Chat

So, where does everything stand right now in relation to any Cease conversations?

Chicago’s general manager, Chris Getz, gave an update to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY that makes it seem like nothing is close to happening.

“If we feel like there’s a there’s a fit that improves our club, we will certainly strongly consider it. Certainly that hasn’t happened at this point,” Getz said. The case for the Orioles acquiring Dylan Cease - Camden Chat

There are other teams interested in making a move for Cease, including the Orioles’ division rival New York Yankees.

Getz could be sharing this to drive up the price for their ace with multiple teams interested in acquiring him.
