The Boston Red Sox could end up landing a slugger this offseason after all.

Boston has been linked to multiple sluggers this offseason but hasn’t been able to get a deal done. The Red Sox likely will be losing Justin Turner in free agency and have been linked to multiple sluggers to fill the hole in the roster.

The Red Sox seemed like they were going to land All-Star Teoscar Hernández, but missed out on him as the Los Angeles Dodgers surprisingly got a deal done. Since missing out on him, Boston has been linked to fellow All-Star Jorge Soler.

Boston needs a right-handed batter with some power in the middle of the lineup and Soler could make a lot of sense. He thrived last season with the Miami Marlins and the Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays currently are seen as the favorites to land him, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

“Jorge Soler, I think Boston and Toronto are the teams that are most likely at the moment,” Heyman said. “Of course, it is a fluid situation. Things can change. (He’s a) terrific offensive player and had a very good year with Miami last year. Miami seems to be retooling at the very least and I don’t see him going back to Miami. Seattle looked into him, but I don’t think that’s going to happen either.”

Soler spent the last two seasons with the Marlins and earned his first All-Star nod last season. He impressed with 36 home runs and 75 RBIs to go along with a .250/.341/.512 slash line in 137 games played.

Boston needs to make a move and if it wants to land Soler will have to act quickly.
