He first represented Canada as a 12-year-old at the Little League World Series. Almost a decade later, he suited up for his country at the Olympics, and nearly a decade after that played in the MLB All-Star Game as a Blue Jay, the only Canadian in the 2016 midsummer classic.
For all those accomplishments and more, Baseball Canada gave Michael Saunders its highest honour on Saturday night, placing his name on the Wall of Excellence as the capper to its annual awards banquet and fundraiser.
