O’Brien was out to impress on Saturday afternoon as she scored twice in City’s convincing win against Birmingham, confirming their spot in the next round.
After the game, the winger expressed her emotions and explained how delighted she is to be back on the scoresheet, after missing a portion of the early part of the season with injury.
“I’m delighted with the win,” O’Brien stated. “We knew it would be a tough game, they’re (Birmingham) pushing for the WSL but even though we made it a little difficult at times, we scored six and I got two myself so I can’t complain.
“After my second goal, that’s the first time I’ve heard the fans chant my name so that was nice, and the kiss was to my parents. We appreciate the fans support, especially coming out to Burton, but it makes such a difference to us having them there.
“It gives me a big confidence boost, and I’m still trying to find my feet and way back to where I was so today was a good sign that I’m on the right path.
“You can only play what’s in front of you, and it was a professional performance. We must take the confidence from this win but know that the WSL is a completely different game and opposition.”
Now one game closer to the final, all eyes will be on Monday night’s draw, where Leicester will find out their next opponents.
