Sean Dyche is doing an unbelievable job at Everton and has made his side’s defence comparable to that of Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool.
The Toffees suffered an eight-point deduction in total this season but are still away from the relegation zone.
According to data provided by WhoScored, the Toffees have conceded a non-penalty xG of 42.82 – which is only bettered by the top three sides in the Premier League.
Via Twitter they wrote: “Fewest non-penalty xG conceded in the Premier League this season:
◎ 23.72 – Arsenal
◎ 31.12 – Manchester City
◎ 38.85 – Liverpool
◎ 42.82 – Everton
◎ 44.70 – Brighton”
While they sit in 16th, they would’ve been more prolific had their attacking players lived up to the billing.
Everton deserve to be higher up on the table
The expected points table compiled by Understat shows that the Toffees deserve to be in ninth place.
They are underachieving by a colossal ten points and their xG makes for pretty worrying reading.
Everton have scored just 32 goals this season – which is a staggering 20 goals shy of what their xG total is.
No other team in the Premier League has such a disparity and Brentford are the next worst but they’re just nine shy.
New contract on the cards for Sean Dyche?
Dyche did not sign any new player in the first transfer window at the club and even in the summer, money was extremely tight.
However, since he’s moved to Goodison Park, a number of players have improved under his tutelage and that’s the sign of a good coach and the players responding well to him.
Under new owners, should money be easy to flow, there is a good chance that he can take this team to the next level and make them an established top 10 team.
If he can do it at Burnley, he most certainly can at Everton and a new contract must be on the cards for him.
