Anthony WeaverThe Miami Dolphins lost significant pieces defensively this offseason, from Christian Wilkins to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. While some departures were welcomed, others were a more substantial loss, catapulting the franchise’s defense into the unknown.

New defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver has a heavy task at hand, establishing a new identity for a Dolphins defense with an influx of newcomers. Weaver has had nothing but positive reviews so far, with players noting that the scheme alone was a lot more fun.

Weaver’s philosophy revolves around production, he explained to reporters at the Dolphins’ mandatory minicamp. “I told guys, time plus energy equals production. If you’re going to put in the time and you do it without energy, you’re just not going to be that productive. When you combine the two, which you’re going to be here anyway, and you bring some juice, you’re going to get the most out of your day.”

he former Baltimore Ravens defensive line coach has high praise for his new defense. His perfect formula for production barely had to be taught, Weaver explained.Anthony Weaver

“Fortunately, we have a lot of guys on this team, particularly defensively, that have that naturally. It’s innate in them, and then the guys that sometimes lack that, they bring them along with them. I just love being around the guys in general, just because of their work ethic and habits. So for me, maybe they think that comes from me. Shoot, I’m feeding off of them.”
