West Ham United rekindles its interest in a Tottenham striker who is out of favor in order to boost: Good for Moyes?

In a recent report, Calciomercato mentioned that West Ham United could reignite their interest in Udinese midfielder Lazar Samardzic next year. It is understood that the Hammers could be offered another chance to secure the services of the Serbian midfield ace this January

Samardzic has made a good start to this Serie A campaign as he has put in a run of impressive displays at the heart of Udinese’s midfield. The 21-year-old has found the back of the net twice in seven appearances for the Italian outfit this season in the league.

The talented midfielder has been a reliable performer for Udinese based on his average of 1.7 shots, 2.1 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game in Serie A. He has also been accurate when distributing possession in the opponent’s half after making 81.1% of his attempted passes in the Italian top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Italian club will run out in the summer of 2026. Thus, it won’t be easy for West Ham to get a deal done for him on the cheap in the January transfer window.

Is Samardzic The Right Fit For West Ham United Boss David Moyes?

Samardzic is a decent dribbler with the ball and can create a few clear-cut chances for his teammates on the attacking end of the pitch. He can strike the ball with venom and accuracy from long range and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

The Serbian talent can contribute by scoring his fair share of goals from midfield. However, he has to find a way to be more creative in the final third.

Samardzic is good enough to fight for a regular starting spot in West Ham head coach David Moyes’ first XI. We can expect him to bring more quality and depth to the East London club‘s midfield department.

At 21, the future looks quite bright for Samardzic but there are some question marks over whether he would be able to make a smooth transition to life in Premier League football. Still, Moyes should consider moving in for the talented playmaker as he will be a great fit for the London club in the long run.
