Leeds United are looking to sign a new full-back in the next few weeks and one player that has emerged onto the club’s radar this week is Wolves left-back Hugo Bueno.

The Spanish defender impressed for Gary O’Neil’s side last season, playing 25 games for Wolves’ first team. But he could never hold down a regular place and now, clubs are interested in signing Bueno.

A loan looks likely, even if Norwich City have seen a bid rejected for the defender. Leeds want to lure Bueno to Elland Road on loan this summer, but The Whites face competition from Celtic and Feyenoord.

Leeds certainly need a left-back given Junior Firpo is the club’s only option at Elland Road right now, though Sam Byram can play on the left. Firpo’s future is up in the air with his contract ending in 2025.

The problem Leeds have in trying to sign Hugo Bueno

Bueno would be a very tidy signing, an attacking left-back that would see the club bring in a player that could replace Firpo without many noticing given the similarity in the style of play between the two stars.

The issue? Well, the Yorkshire Evening Post make it clear. Why would a Premier League club be willing to allow their fringe player to join a Championship club, if he’s only going to be second choice there as well?

Leeds do not want to deliver assurances and then not play the player in question, something the Evening Post say wouldn’t sit well with Farke. Ultimately, Leeds have Premier League players in the Championship.
