Steve Cooper faces the tough task of keeping Leicester City in the Premier League in the coming campaign.

The Foxes dominated the Championship in 2023/24 but their chances of remaining in the top flight beyond 2024/25 look slim.

So far, the Midlands outfit have, for the most part, had a rather poor 2024 summer transfer window.

Key players from their promotion-winning campaign like Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Kelechi Iheanacho have left the King Power Stadium and are yet to be replaced with quality options.

Michael Goodwin, who joined from Chelsea, has plenty of potential but is not ready to replace the former of that duo just yet.

Leicester want to bring Arthur Melo back to the Premier League and the Brazilian could slot into Cooper’s midfield in place of Dewsbury-Hall.

Leicester City will address problem area in 2024 transfer window

For the time being, however, Leicester are set to go into 2024/25 with limited attacking options.

New signing Bobby De Cordova-Reid has been used as an attacking midfielder in pre-season but appears to lack the quality required to play regularly in the Premier League.

The Foxes’ attacking output in their last few friendlies is concerning, with Cooper’s men failing to score a single goal in their previous two outings.

As a result, it is now even more clear that Leicester must replace Dewsbury-Hall in the remainder of this transfer window.

And in a boost for Leicester fans, Leicester Live journalist Jordan Blackwell has provided a positive update on that front.

When asked in a Q & A if the club will sign an attacking midfielder to replace Dewsbury-Hall, Blackwell claimed they ‘definitely’ will.

He said: “I definitely think they will bring in an attacking midfielder, yes.

“I think that would be a priority over a striker, simply because they do have players who can play up front, it’s more of a question of quality.

“In attacking midfield, bar De Cordova-Reid, they don’t have any senior players to operate there, and even then, I think the Jamaica international will mostly be used as a winger, as competition for Fatawu and Mavididi.”
